Germany: GM and the Opel Saga

General Motors announced Nov. 25 that it would cut 9,000 jobs from its Opel workforce in Europe, with some reports indicating that 5,300 of the jobs based in Germany are included. The cuts will likely drive divisions between Berlin and Washington even deeper, and may provide Moscow with a greater strategic opening to Germany in the future.
