Summary
Supporters of Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo on Nov. 30 blocked the release of preliminary results from a presidential runoff election. Gbagbo appears to fear that he lost the election to his longtime rival, former Ivorian Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara — a result he has said he would not accept. Gbagbo is using all the tools available to him as the incumbent president to delay the election results' release, which could lead to the results' annulment.
